
Masonry

Stone masonry happens to be one of those professions that was one of the first in the history of construction. It is very much regarded as a traditional skill. Masonry is the building of structures from individual units laid in and bound together by mortar; the term masonry can also refer to the units themselves. The common materials of masonry construction are brick, stone, marble, granite, travertine, limestone, cast stone, concrete block, glass block, stucco tile and cob.
Program Overview
Masonry students at CATS become versed in all aspects of the job including proper handling of tools, job site safety, fundamentals of brick laying, and advanced building skills. Students will get instruction both in the classroom and hands-on experience building in the field.

Mr. Balthaser is the owner of Balthaser Construction Company. He comes to CATS with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm.
He believes the qualities for an outstanding instructor include the ability to communicate effectively; must have a passion and enthusiasm for the subject you are teaching; able to incorporate hands on activities that will be relevant for life after school; must have patience, kindness and understanding, must be committed to building strong relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
